Beautification: Iqbal Park to be renovated

PHA has been directed to prepare plan for landscaping and renovation of greenbelts around Minar-i-Pakistan.

LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has been directed to prepare a plan for the landscaping and renovation of greenbelts around Minar-i-Pakistan, Iqbal Park, and adjoining areas, Lahore Commissioner Rashid Mahmood Langrial said on Saturday. Addressing a meeting, the commissioner said that wheelchairs and other facilities would be made available to senior citizens and the disabled at walking tracks to historical places. Discussing the restoration of Sattukatla drain from Ferozepur Road to Peco Road, Langrial said that the government would complete all payments to owners of land acquired for the project within two months. He instructed officials to set up a camp on the road where land owners could come to pick up their cheques. The district administration will monitor the payments on a daily basis. PHA Director General Mian Shakeel Ahmad, DCO Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi, Chief Traffic Officer Sohail Chaudhry, Wasa Managing Director Dr Javed, Walled City Director Col (retired) Younus Barola, the sports director and the archaeology director also attended the meeting.
