Squash: Zaman sails into Edmonton Open semi-finals

Pakistan’s unseeded Farhan Zaman prevailed in the quarter-finals of the ReidBuilt Homes Edmonton Open to secure a semi-final berth in the PSA World Tour Challenger 15 squash event at the Royal Glenora Club in Edmonton for the second year in a row.


The 20-year-old from Peshawar followed his first-round win over Mexico’s Alfredo Avila by overcoming Spanish qualifier Carlos Cornes Ribadas 11-3, 12-10 and 11-6. Zaman now faces second seed Egypt’s Karim Ali Fathi for a place in the final. The other semi-final will be played between Egypt’s top seed Marwan Elshorbagy and third-seeded New Zealander Martin Knight.
