Saida Jan Afridi’s house was attacked for a third time on Friday, allegedly by extortionists. The local Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader’s hujra and mosque were fired on in Sur Qamar, Khyber Agency.
According to Jan, the attackers were asking for Rs5 million and when he refused to pay, they fired at his house for an hour around 12:30pm on Friday. He informed the political administration about the incident but claimed they did not take any action.
The attackers said the money was for donation, said Jan. “I told them I am in need of donations myself for political activities,” added the JUI-F leader. This was the extortionists’ third attack.
“I cannot leave my hometown forever, I am a politician,” he added.
On November 25, unidentified gunmen opened fire outside Jan’s house.
