The Peshawar High Court summoned the vice chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University on Thursday to explain why salaries of regular employees of a project have not been increased. VC Dr Sayed Farhana is expected to explain why a reply in this regard was not submitted at Thursday’s hearing.
A division bench comprising Justice Nisar Hussain and Justice Musarrat Hilali was informed by petitioner Ghasan Sattar’s counsel Yasir Khattak that the university has increased five salaries by 5% in 2008 and 15% in 2011.
“Salaries of employees working on one project have not been increased and this is against the rules,” added Khattak. The court fined Farhana Rs10,000 for not submitting a reply.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the bench ordered the vice chancellor to appear before the court.
