Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has directed relevant authorities to release salaries to lady health workers (LHWs) immediately and prepare their case in this regard. He said LHWs would not only be paid their salaries but they would also be provided medicines and other essential equipment.

The minister was chairing a meeting of the health department in Peshawar on Tuesday. Delegates of the international development department also attended the meeting.

Yousafzai said LHWs should not suffer more as they have already been facing the non-payment of salaries.

Talking about the betterment of the health department, Shaukat Yousafzai said that as public representatives, they would fulfil their obligation to facilitate people. He said the impoverished had given the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf a mandate to bring change to the present provincial government. Issues being faced by the public regarding the health sector were serious but no one in the past took them seriously, claimed Yousafzai.
