ISLAMABAD:

International lawyer Ahmer Bilal Soofi terms PTI’s move of lodging the FIR “an extraordinary development.” Criminal cases are usually proceeded against individuals, not state actors and if this case is moved forward, only the state can lead the proceedings because the provincial govt does not have the mandate to do so under the Constitution. The move is likely to disturb United States and Pakistan relations, he told The Express Tribune.

It will be difficult for the PTI to advance in the case without involving the federal government as foreign relations falls under Islamabad’s domain, he explained. “To proceed, Islamabad and Peshawar must be on the same page.”

@csmann: No, Imran Khan was elected on this mandate. So was Nawaz Shareef, but he reneged on it. Imran Khan is only speaking the will of the majority of the Pakistani people.

Comment on your own Indian politics, don't comment on Pakistan without knowledge.

But it keeps TTP happy. And helping PTI in point-scoring and advancing politically.Next federal government may well be a coalition of TTP, PTI and JI.
