Women’s education: Women’s university starts functioning

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had laid its foundation stone on April 24, 2012.

SIALKOT: Recently established Government College Women University started functioning on Monday. The university, previously known as the Government Postgraduate College for Women, was upgraded to the university level during the previous government. Addressing the students and faculty, university’s caretaker Dr Khalida Gillani said students should take the upgrade as a blessing. Dr Gillani said the university had taken 3,300 students in 2013. She said construction of the administration block was ongoing. Earlier, the college was affiliated with the University of Gujrat. With the upgrade, the university had been awarded a degree awarding status. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had laid its foundation stone on April 24, 2012.
