Jayawardene to sit out ODI, T20 series

Sri Lanka batsman to miss UAE tour due to personal reasons.

KARACHI: Seasoned Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardene will not be featuring in the One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 series against Pakistan set to take place in the UAE next month, according to ESPNcricinfo.

The former captain’s wife is expecting a child and Jayawardene will be spending time with her during the series. His place in the squad has gone to left-handed Test batsman Kithuruwan Vithanage.

The first T20 will take place on December 11 in Dubai and the Sri Lanka squad for the format includes Dinesh Chandimal (c), Lasith Malinga, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kusal Perera, Kumar Sangakkara, Angelo Mathews, Lahiru Thirimanne, Kithuruwan Vithanage, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Seekuge Prasanna, Suranga Lakmal, Sachithra  Senanayake, Ajantha Mendis and Ramith Rambukwella (subject to fitness).
