Healthy lifestyle: Match held for diabetes awareness

A special cricket match, Agahee Cup, held on Nov 17 to mark World Diabetes Day.

LAHORE: A special cricket match, the Agahee Cup, was held on November 17 to mark World Diabetes Day and highlight the importance of exercise in controlling the disease.  The match was organised by the Diabetes Care Division of Roche Pakistan Limited, a pharmaceutical company, and hosted by the Aleem Dar Cricket Academy in Lahore. Celebrities Moammar Rana, Afzal Rambo, Arbaz Khan and Saleem Sheikh and professional cricketers including Imran Nazir played in the match between a Stars XI and AccuCheck XI. A seminar on diabetes awareness was also arranged. Prof Javed Akram, an advisor on medical education to the Punjab government, Dr Zahid Pervaiz, the health director general, and nutritionist Dr Farzeen Malik spoke at the seminar.
