Honour killing: Man, woman shot dead in Malakand

Authorities claim the suspect managed to escape and an investigation is underway.

BATKHELA: In an apparent case of honour killing, two were gunned down while a woman was injured in Sholawai, Batkhel tehsil in Malakand Agency on Friday.

Qalangai levies official Sani Gul claimed the incident occurred at around 8am. According to the police report, Bacha Khan said two brothers - Jamil, Waqar and their relative Riaz - opened fire at his son, Bakht Amin, near the Sholawai vehicle stand and left him injured.



Gul said the suspects then went to their relative’s house and started firing at Sajida Bibi, who died on the spot, and also injured Jan Wala Bibi.

Amin succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital while Jan Wala Bibi was taken to Batkhela Headquarters Hospital.

Gul added the accused suspected that Amin and Sajida were involved in a relationship and had warned Amin of dire consequences if they found him near Sajida’s house.

The authorities claim the accused managed to escape and an investigation was underway.
