MANSEHRA:

Food authorities sealed a flour mill for selling substandard wheat flour and skimping on quantity, said the police on Friday.

District Food Controller (DFC) Zamrud Khan along with SHO Abdul Rasheed raided the Mansehra Flour Mills on Thursday and seized low quality product. Mill workers were caught red-handed adulterating flour with grounded dry wheat bread.

Khan said employees were not grinding the wheat according to prescribed standards.

The workers were also packaging and marketing the product in violation of food laws, added Khan. When the weight of the packaged flour was compared with the weight on the label, it was found to be two kilogrammes lighter.

The packaged flour was seized and samples were sent to Peshawar for testing.

On the complaint of the DFC, the police arrested two workers identified as Naheed and Abdullah. The owner, manager and other workers managed to escape. The flour mill was sealed and its licence was cancelled.
