Fake Degree Case: LHC stays action against Ghurki
The court issued a stay order and sought a reply from the respondent.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Thursday restrained the Election Commission of Pakistan from taking action against former provincial minister Farooq Yousaf Ghurki, who is accused of running for election on a fake degree. The petitioner’s counsel, Aftab Bajwa, pleaded that the ECP was not the competent body to decide whether Ghurki’s degree was fake or genuine. He said that the LHC had already recalled its order on his degree. The ECP could not take action against him unless a competent authority declared his degree a fake one, he added. The court issued a stay order and sought a reply from the respondent.
