Terror bid foiled: Bomb defused in Karachi

BDS defuses bomb placed near Imambargah during investigation of a firing incident that had left three persons injured.

KARACHI: A bomb placed near an Imambargah was recovered and defused during investigation of a firing incident that had left three persons injured. According to police, three people were wounded when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at them in Qasba Colony in Orangi Town near Jafaria Imambargah. The injured were identified as Maisam Raza, Danish Rizvi and Zeeshan Haider, who is the son of a trustee of the Imambargah. Investigating officer Alam Zaib said the injured were taken to Qatar Hospital and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. As police reached the crime scene, they also found a bomb placed near the Imambargah. The area was cordoned off and the bomb disposal squad (BDS) was called in to defuse the bomb. BDS experts later said that it was a 4 kilogram IED packed with ball bearings. Separately, officials denied reports of an explosion near Imambargah in Kati Pahari area.
