Health Department will call intra-provincial conference to highlight alarming state of healthcare in province.

QUETTA: Balochistan Health Department will call an intra-provincial conference to highlight the alarming state of healthcare in the province where Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) remains highest in the country with 785 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births whereas the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is 89 infant deaths per 1,000 live births. Minister Health Rehmat Baloch said Balochistan needs international donors’ help to end the healthcare problems. “Security, poverty, scattered population, lack of literacy, unskilled health workers and lack of funds are major factors behind the alarming state of health in the province,” he told reporters.
