A man facing a murder trial at the city court was gunned down in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The deceased was identified as Javed Lal, 35. The incident occurred when the deceased was returning home from court, accompanied by his cousin, Imran, who is also a co-accused in the murder trial.
The deceased and his cousin were nominated in FIR No. 249/12 registered at the Mobina Town police station for allegedly murdering their neighbour, 12-year-old Barkat Ali, over a petty dispute last year. According to SHO Jamal Leghari, Imran told the police that Barkat Ali’s father, Aziz, had killed Lal to avenge his son’s murder.
A police constable, deployed as the personal security guard of DSP Mazhar Shaikh, was killed in an alleged robbery by his servants. The incident occurred at DSP Shaikh’s residence in Defence Housing Authority, within the limits of Darakshan police station. The deceased, Hakim, had been serving as the DSP Shaikh’s personal security guard for the last five years.
According to police officials, DSP Shaikh’s driver and his wife slit the guard’s throat and tied up his relatives before escaping from the house with valuables. Clifton SSP Nasir Aftab told The Express Tribune that at the time of the incident, DSP Shaikh had gone abroad for treatment while his personal guard, Hakim, the driver and his wife and two of Shaikh’s relatives had been living at his house. The accused couple had been hired about a month and a half ago but the family had no documentation of their identification.
A young man, employed as a sales manager at a private medicine firm, was shot dead at Jigar Murad Abadi Road. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ashfaq, 27. SHO Humayun Khan told The Express Tribune that the deceased was returning to his office after withdrawing cash from a bank in Soldier Bazaar when he was intercepted by two armed men who tried to rob him abnd shot him when he resisted. Ashfaq was taken to Civil Hospital Karachi where he succumbed to his injuries.
Separately, a woman was found dead in her home in Baldia Town. Police officials said that the deceased was killed over offering resistance in a robbery bid. Deceased was identified as Amna, 60, wife of Mehran Shah.
Meanwhile, a woman was found dead in her house in Green Town, Shah Faisal Colony. Police officials said that the deceased, Sonia, 22, wife of Ejaz, was strangled to death. The husband of the deceased, who is a bus conductor by profession, has been arrested on suspicion.
