RAWALPINDI: The soon-to-retire Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani chaired the Formation Commanders conference at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi for one last time on Wednesday.

The meeting featured discussions on various security issues including the situation around the country’s borders, the war on terror and other professional matters of the armed forces.

The event is held twice a year and is attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and Formation Commanders.

Later, the COAS met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a one-on-one meeting where the two discussed the political and security matters of the nation.

General Kayani retires from his post of COAS on November 29, as speculations continue over his possible successor.

With military’s poor performance against TTP during his tenure, would he have given a parting advice to his formation commanders to go for peace talks with them if civilian govt fails to do so ??

During his tenure we have seen the Army buckle down to pretty much everyone-militants and their backers, countless incidents against our sovereignty, corrupt politicians,(but atleast palaces and businesses have been well developed).

He was a failed general….tolerated the insult of judiciary regarding Lal majid and declaring Mullana Burka as hero and free man by judiciary..where as many Army personal sacrificed their life restoring state writ……
