RAWALPINDI: The government of Punjab has constituted multiple committees to probe incidents at Raja Bazaar during Ashura.
Among the committees formed to probe the incident is a Fact Finding Committee, a Joint Investigation Team and a Judicial Commission to probe the carnage in Rawalpindi on November 15 and fix responsibilities against those who showed criminal negligence.
At a press conference on Monday, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said law and order situation is being created under a well-planned conspiracy only in Punjab. He said the government will investigate the incident thoroughly and will make the reports public.
Several teams to investigate the incident
The minister said that a Fact Finding Committee (FFC) will fix responsibilities on who showed criminal negligence on the day. It will also review the duties of commissioner, City Police Officer, District Coordination Officer and other police officers.
The committee will have seven days to prepare its report.
The FFC will be led by the Chief Ministers’ Inspection Team head Najam Saeed and includes Secretary Prosecution Nadeem Irshad Kiyani and Additional Inspector General (investigation) Muhammad Amlesh.
A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) led by SSP (security) Dar Ali Khattak, who was on duty when the clashes took place, will also investigate the carnage in light of an FIR registered and take action against those who showed criminal negligence.
There were objections from the press over the inclusion SSP security Dar Ali Khattak, SP Rawal Jumat Shah Bukhari in the JIT since it raised questions on the impartiality of an investigation into an incident in which they were themselves culpable.
A Judicial Commission (JC) led by Lahore High Court judge Justice Mamoon Rasheed Sheikh will also probe the incident. They will submit a report to the chief minister.
Another committee has also been set up to asses the damage to public property within 48 hours. Its report will be submitted to the minister.
The committee is being led by Member National Assembly Malik Ibrar and includes Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Sardar Naseem, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce President Dr Shamail Khwaja and a representative of traders Arshad Awan.
The committee will be monitored by the Law minister.
The minister also asked mediamen to share details of damage they sustained during the clashes to receive compensation.

Yep - if you have an obvious problem - form a Committee. BTW how's that Abbottabad report coming along?
Has any result from any govt formed commitees made public ? This is yet another govt formed commitees will produce zero result.....keep fooling the public....keep doing because we are such a stupid ignorant lot......
We also need a comittee to probe why the only ideas pmln have are to make comittees.
For fairness, May I suggest that the members of the investigation team should be either non Muslims, or Sunnis. I believe that my Shia brothers should not have any problem with that. Likewise, Government needs to bring Wahabis on board with this suggestion, to avoid their community into the investigation team.
How easy it is to fool the public ! Committees are made when the govt. does not want to do anything real. On the side it will lap up whatever cash is still floating in the scam/incident.
@Depressed:
"Sick of listening to the formation of SO-Called committees."
The "committees", "commissions" etc. are euphemism for delaying action, delaying justice and then end up doing nothing. This is a very well developed technique in diversion in India and Pakistan.
Sick of listening to the formation of SO-Called committees.
Committee to investigate Committee who is investigating Committee who is investigating Committee to investigate the incident !!!
This is the first time in Pakistan that Fact Finding Committee (FFC) has been formed. We hope & pray that these incidences (Karachi Carnage of 12th May, Hooliganism in various parts of Pakistan on the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in End December 2007, Bolton Market carnage in 2009, Quetta massacre in 2011) will never occur in future. Long Live Pakistan!
Lets hope this is not another useless tribunal. it should focus more on finding the truth rather than trying to bury the hatchet and creating harmony among the sects.
Harmony will come only once the true facts are spoken, lessons learnts and recommendations implemented.
We have a history of ignoring violence in the name of agitations. Had the rioters and looters of 27th-30th Dec. 2007 been apprehended and punished, we would not have had RWP incident. Had the rioters and looters of Bolton Market incident apprehended and punished, we would not have had RWP incident occurred. We cannot allow violence for any sake!
What is the purpose of wasting tax payer money on all these committees when we know ASWJ aka "Sipah e Sahaba" was behind the entire incident? But then again they are buddies of PMLN, so it's not surprising. - ET PRINT THIS
Here are the facts regarding the carnage that happened long ago but keeps repeating itself. Just read the first few paragraphs:

Seems PMLN have found a political opportunity. All the members are PMLN winners/looser of RWP of 2013 Elections and the compensation to the traders cant be transparent and fair. People can be victimized based on there political affiliations. A poor decision : (
