FIA forms four member committee to probe Asghar Khan case

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday formed a committee to probe the Asghar Khan case, Express News reported.

Director General FIA formed a four member committee under Additional Director General FIA Muhammad Ghalib to probe the case.

The committee was formed almost a year to the date when former Army chief Mirza Aslam Baig filed a review petition in the case where he claimed that he had no role in distributing money to political parties.

In its verdict in the Asghar Khan petition, the apex court concluded that then Pakistan president Ghulam Ishaq Khan, along with Beg and former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Asad Durrani, distributed funds among various political quarters to influence the 1990 general elections.

As a consequence, the court had noted in its short order that “the President of Pakistan (representing the unity of the Republic) violates the Constitution if he fails to treat all manner of people equally and without favouring any set.”

@Nasim Azhar: yes ! I wud luv to explain that bcz u seem so ignorant and intelectually bankrupt.'..this case is one year old when SC in its short order had instructed the govt of PPP to investigate evidence and dig out the truth into actions of different politicians, bankers and establishment who were party in forming IJI to defeat PPP....why PPP govt did not investigate when in power and as directed by SC in this case ? So much hulabo was créated by PPP in this Asghar khan case and then when SC ordered govt of PPP to investigate and submit its finding...it,did not. The understanding reached was " let us loot and plunder and we will not investigate Asghar khan case, when you are in power you do it ". You think a guilty party will do justice in investigating its own case ? is this not muk mukao then what ?

It is funny that PCO CJ had all the time for suo motu but had none for Arsalan, Asghar Khan, ZAB review, and most appeals against death and constitutional petitions. However, now he is a lame duck these cases are taken up! How convenient is that?
