FAISALABAD:

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped at her home in Samundri on Friday.

*Muhammad Haq, the girl’s uncle, told the media that his niece, *Kiran, a resident of Akbar Town, was home alone when two women, *Sharmeela Bibi and *Fareeha came to meet her.

He said the women called the accused, *Mehmood, who raped Kiran. “He raped her in front of Sharmeela and Fareeha,” Haq said.

“They threatened Kiran with dire consequences in case reported the matter… they fled when the neighbours became alarmed and gathered outside the house,” he said.

Haq said he had filed a complaint with the police but the suspect had not been arrested. He alleged that Mehmood was an influential man and police were reluctant to arrest him.

The Samundri police station house officer told The Express Tribune that “the police have registered a complaint and are waiting for the medico-legal examination report.”

“People sometimes register false complaints against opponents and rivals…we have to wait for the report,” he said.

He said a police team had been formed to arrest the suspects.
