Numbers seem important to the coalition government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. A day after the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) was shown the door, smaller parties and independent candidates gained more importance.
Amidst criticism, allegations and speculations, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP), partners in the government, have reiterated their stance to stay in the coalition. “We have an understanding,” Minister for Agriculture and Information Technology Shahram Khan Tarakai told The Express Tribune.
AJIP’s Tarakai elaborated there was mutual agreement on several issues between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), JI and AJIP.
In reference to recent developments, Tarakai said, “I know we (AJIP) are now more important than previously within the coalition.” He said the government sided with the coalition partners on all important issues, including the blockage of Nato supplies set to begin next week.
Sources within the party say even they were unaware of QWP’s decision until Wednesday evening, when the announcement was made that the QWP would pull out of the coalition government.
AJIP currently has five members in the provincial assembly Abdul Munim, Babar Khan, Khatoon Bibi, Muhammad Ali Tarakai and Shahram Khan Taraki himself.
Although it does not seem likely to political observers that QWP’s break from the coalition will have any traumatic effect on the government for now, the Awami National Party, which had previously said it will not support any no-confidence vote in the house, now says any future decision will be made based on the way circumstances develop further. “We will evaluate the situation and then make our decision,” said Iftikhar Hussain.
“PTI might seem immature to its critics,” said a party member privy to political developments, “but it is only about perception – we have done our homework and we know where we are headed,” he said.

@shar:
Yes all would be taught in English and Urdu books revised by PTI and JI which have been purged of the hideous messages of great Sufi poets of peace and harmony, where concepts of Jihad against infidels are back with vengeance and where Urdu books have been repopulated with religious texts to the core.
By the way, if a few PTI ministers would have been kicked out IK's action against QWP would have seemed justifiable but if all PTI ministers most of who were part of previous government are clean, I can't imagine how previous government was corrupt.
@Mirza: today QWP members got dismissed.. Tomorrow, PTI members might get dismissed (many are on IK radar Btw) and what will u say then??.. Is taking action against corrupt members mean u are running away from gov???. And IK confirmed in To the Point show that he call a re-election in KPK and will come with a majority this time if numbers doesn't remain in his favor.. And go to Peshawar and check whether there is a change in thana/Patwari culture or not!! Easy to sit in Lahore/ISB/KHI and give generalized statements like "where is the change in KPK"... -_-.. And JI is natural Ally of PTI in terms of one of the most least corrupt party at least!!!
@Mirza: At least they have taken action, whereas pro US parties like PPP, PMLn openly say that "corruption is our right" -_-..
@MirZardarI u named the 3 corrupt elements who u support, y? Pti is laying foundations look at education all will b taught english and urdu unlike pppp y? Didn't BB ever or nawaz mention to overall the system, because the corrupt elements need an illiterate society a literate society is a danger to them, and don't play dumb u know it,I don't know ur reasons y u support ppp u must have some
@Mirza: ''IK and PTI had a sudden epiphany that QWP and Sherpao are corrupt to the core. These poor fellows did not have any clue when putting together a coalition after so many rounds of talks.'' JI is the natural ally of P.T.I.One can look into the future performance of PTI through the window of JI past.No wonder if PTI in coming future calls army to role back democracy. And I have no doubt they are working on these lines.
IK and PTI had a sudden epiphany that QWP and Sherpao are corrupt to the core. These poor fellows did not have any clue when putting together a coalition after so many rounds of talks. Now after this epiphany and firing the QWP ministers the corruption has finally ended from KPK! Do people see any change let alone improvement in their plight? Except JI, IK and PTI do not have any natural allies and would continue to blame the “others” for not fulfilling their false promises. It is the duty of ANP, PPP and even PML-N to keep PTI in power and hold their feet to the fire. Don’t let them run away as political victims or martyrs.
I am not surprise to see a sizable proportion of people critisizing PTI. As a society people are so used to corrupt system and practices that any good, unusual step by anyone is not digestable by many people.
It is easy to critisize PTI but no one consider the fact that PTI does not have simple majority in KPK so many bold decisions are very hard to take. Furthermore, many decisions such as foreign policy, drones, regarding WAPDA etc are federal government related and PTI can't do anything with not even have enough members in center to be leader of opposition. So get a life and appreciate what good they are doing despite all these limitations.
Only IK can take clear cut bold decisions. History is witness of it.
We in the KPK know very well how corrupt Sherpao and its party is. THis is a historical decision of the PTI in the face of uncertain situation. Any thing can happen if people change loyalties. But PTI show its worth and its commitment to establish corruption free society.
@imran ali: "Khan saheb…this is not criket that they will tolerate your arrogant attitude…" . An aging old man has nothing but faint memories of past glories. Agley waqtoN keh haeN yeh log inheN kuchh na kaho.
This article is insinuating that it was QWP which broke from the coalition, in reality it was PTI who kicked out QWP as always, nice spin ET.
This is a brilliant and an exemplary move.
I call this governance by example. Well done PTI for getting rid of these corrupt crooks. This is also a very good example for the rest of the country to follow.
Khan saheb...this is not criket that they will tolerate your arrogant attitude...
It really is quite shameful to see people question a brave step that PTI has taken. We all know what steps the other parties would have taken had this surfaced in their parties.
I think Imran and PTI want out of the hot seat in KPK. All recent decisions pointing to it... Get the government sacrificed and sit in opposition - get back to talking rather than having to walk the talk!
Wish PTI had absolute majority
kpk government is here to stay. Ik clean bowled qwp.
So really, there is no "crises" as was reported yesterday.
