IT and telecom: Minister states IT sector a valuable asset

There is need to improve number of youths receiving higher education in information technology and telecom sectors.

ISLAMABAD: The Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Anusha Rahman stressed the need to equip the country’s youth with appropriate technology and telecommunication facilities. She said that there is a need to improve the number of youths receiving higher education in the information technology and telecom sectors. She said that the government is providing opportunities in the field of information technology and telecom so that the younger generation could progress steadily. She added that Pakistan is a developing state striving for more economic development and is in the need to use its skilled manpower. She added that in Pakistan around 125 million people use cell phones and this number is constantly growing. She believes that the focus should be given to the manufacturing sector to achieve concrete objectives in the IT and telecom sector.
