According to initial reports, they were planning to attack the Imambargah in Sector G-6, Islamabad on Muharram 9, but security forces foiled the attack by arresting them the night before.
Police also seized suicide jackets and other equipment from them.
The alleged suicide bomber and the mastermind behind the attack were identified as Muhammad Saeed Abdullah and Matiullah.
Express News reported that Matiullah is an Afghani citizen and was issued a Pakistani visa on October 20. He had visited Pakistan before multiple times and was deported back to Afghanistan when he was found involved in issuing fake visas.
Kot Adu Attack
In Kot Adu, Punjab, police officials foiled yet another sectarian attack when they recovered explosives on the route of an Ashura procession, Radio Pakistan reported on Thursday.
In response, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced a prize of Rs 50,000 for the administration and police who defused the explosives.
Karachi Raid
On November 13, three alleged militants of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed during a raid by Rangers personnel in the Gulshan-e-Buner area of Landhi, Karachi.
The security officers raided TTP hideouts after receiving a tip off that the militants were planning an attack on the 10th of Muharram.
The militants reportedly retaliated and during the exchange of fire, one Rangers official also lost his life.
Hand grenades and weapons were also seized during the operation.

We commend the Pakistani Security Forces for a successful operation against violence-prone extremists that do not respect the sanctity of holy months like Ramazan and Moharram. It is unfortunate to witness a targeted violence of this kind and it seems as if these terrorists are looking for any reason based on differences to justify their actions. Senseless attacks such as these are hindering Pakistan reach its full potential, and are proving to be obstacles in the path of prosperity. We fully support these efforts by the Pakistani government and security institutions in curtailing this plague of indiscriminant violence and destruction.

Glad to see that the law enforcement is now gearing up and able to prevent unnecessary loss of life. Hope they get many more such success.
@Mohsin: "How in the world a suicide bomber gets Pakistani Visa even after so many rejections"
did you consider the possibility that he might be a Pakistani cittizen just like Mallik Ishaq and Hakimulla Mehsud were - and hence may not actually have required a visa?
@ baloch Southall UK I agree with you . shoot on sight policy.
Allhamdulilah
The militants reportedly retaliated and during the exchange of fire, one Rangers official also lost his life. May his soul rest in peace . tribute
@LalaMujahid: Your comments display your sick mentality. You should be sent to an assylum. I hope youn get the same celenbrationn you wish upon others. @Lalakimaa: Makiong fun of others religious believes shows your mental degeneration. Then again most Indians lack even basic human empathy.
I Consider TTP as martyrs and brave man just like how pakistanis consider kashmiri terrorist as martyrs...........
Bad day for JI, JUI and other enemies of Pakistan. Good day for ordinary Pakistanis. Proud of our Rangers who sacrifice their lives to protect ours.
How was he issued a visa recently when earlier he was deported on fake visa charges ?
Should not have been arrested. Shot in police encounter is a better policy. The porous border on the west of Pakistan is the gateway of these terrorists. Being a resident of Quetta I have seen it first hand. I pray for the vulnerable citizens of my country. The enemy is still out there and everyone should be vigilant for their safety and safety of fellow citizens.
Dear Tribune Repeat After me ''They are Terrorist Not militants'' Repeat this as many times as it will take for you to get it.Help Pakistani security force not Chaudhry Iftikar Terrorist friend and sympathizer.
me and my family were at that procession....thanks isb police...
A Afghan National - why doesn't these afghans go back to to their own country and do this there instead of Pakistan. Its like they spit in the same plate they eat.
Terrorists arrested, only to be released by the CJ?
No wonder TTP called CJ their favourite person in Pakistan.
Lalakimaa,
If so, then the entire world is a joke.
Our security forces are giving huge sacrifices to protect us. It is also true that our agencies once supported all these Sipah Sahab, Jaish Muhammed, etc. Now our enemies have paid them well to turn these banned outfits against Pakistan. What has happened has happened and can not be undone. We must talk to TTP and its allies so that we can live in peace.
How in the world a suicide bomber gets Pakistani Visa even after so many rejections... concerned authorities must be answerable...
Excellent job by our security forces....but a day of mourning for Munawwar Hassan
Why dont Pakistani forces allow TTP live freely and celebrate the muharram how they want..............These will be words of Imran Khan..bydave I am enjoying sachin tendulkar match here in Mumbai..best of luck to pakistan and its people....Muharram mubarak...
Hopefully these terrorists will get punishment now that Iftikhar Chaudhary's is due to leave.
so Jummat Islami have their shaheed caught. Thanks God, these 'Shaheed' didn't reach the target.
To bad he could not achieve 'shahadat' - maybe in the gallows now.
Good work! Now lets hope the supreme court doesn't release them.
As usual, CJ will release him.
AlhamdolilAllah! Great news.
Heartiest congratulations to Islamabad Security Forces on arresting the suicide bomber alongwith his master mind.
You people have saved many precious and lives of innocent citizens.
May Al-Mighty Allah be always with you.
