Anti-dengue efforts: Minister stresses coordinated efforts

RAWALPINDI: Strict action will be taken against those who throw solid waste and garbage in Nullah Leh, said Punjab’s Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on Wednesday. Raja was presiding over a meeting of the Dengue Control Committee in Rawalpindi’s Commissioner Office. Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Khalid Masood Chaudhry, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar Dall and local politicians attended the meeting. The minister said the Rawal and Potohar Towns and the administration of Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Boards should regularly lift solid waste from all streams and dump them appropriately at the diagnosed land-fill site. He underlined the need to continue anti-dengue efforts on a war-footing and said no negligence would be tolerated. District Health Officer Dr Khalid Randhawa presented details of anti-dengue activities. Principal Rawalpindi Medical College Professor Muhammad Umar briefed the DCO and assured that the best medical facilities are being provided to dengue affected patients in the city.
