ISLAMABAD:

The first information report (FIR) for a doctor who was allegedly abducted between Peshawar Mor and Sector G-10 on Tuesday was lodged against unknown people at the Sabzi Mandi Police Station on Wednesday.

Dr Ehsanullah Khan, who hailed from North Waziristan, was kidnapped by two unidentified men riding two vehicles.

Khan’s wife Maryam Ehsan lodged the FIR, in which she said neither had her husband received any threatening calls in the recent past, nor had he any personal enmity, police sources said.

According to sources at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), Dr Ehsanullah had been living at the doctors’ hostel of the hospital with his wife and two children for the last four years.

On November 8, he completed his specialisation in dermatology and he was about to leave for North Waziristan with his family to celebrate the achievement, the hospital sources said.

They added that Dr Ehsanullah is the son-in-law of a serving bureaucrat.

The sources said that Khan is also a member of a committee which is probing the ongoing issue between the ministry and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and he has the final report with him.

The sources added that Khan was also investigating fake medical colleges registered with the PMDC. “This kidnapping may have been a signal to cover up the findings of the probe,” the sources said.

Pims Spokesperson Dr Ayesha Eshani said the hospital administration was not aware that Khan was missing.
