The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Roads Recovery Project (ERRP) has successfully rolled out 15.50 kilometres (km) road infrastructure connecting Dadahara and Kanju on the right bank of River Swat. Completed in September this year, the $8 million project’s progress both in cost saving and achievement of outcomes has enabled the MDTF to programme an additional $9.1 million for further expansion by 14.7 km. With the additional funding of $9.1 million, the rehabilitated road would now be a total 30.1 kilometers, thus completing about 76% of the total road on the right bank of River Swat. This rehabilitation will offer an alternate route to Swat. “Constructing a road of such magnitude does not only have civil works considerations, but also several other social implications. During the implementation of the road rehabilitation and improvement activities, we had to appropriately deal with several other factors as well,” said ERRP Project Director Muhammad Aslam Khan.
