But then, it is not a new game. Ayub Khan wrote a book — Friends, Not Masters — to express his love for the hatred he had nursed against his masters following the stoppage of the almost free-of-cost US military assistance after the 1965 war.
Following the Geneva accords that brought the first Afghan war to an abrupt end — an end not to the liking of the then president, Ziaul Haq, too, must have felt like writing a book on these lines. He did not but he did, however, publicly express his disappointment with the US for not allowing his Mujahideen to snatch Kabul from the Soviet troops after defeating the Red Army in a fair and square war; out of pique, he dismissed his own hand-picked government of Mohammad Khan Junejo for endorsing the US peace plans. General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has been too busy rediscovering himself in exile and has been in and out of jail since his ouster from power, thanks to the US sponsored NRO, to write a similar book.
ZA Bhutto in his book, The Myth of Independence, though did not express his feelings in similar vein but by the time he was ousted in a military coup, he was blaming the US for all his political predicaments.
During the Cold War, the Right in Pakistan, led by the JI, was in the US camp perhaps, because the Jamaat viewed it as a godly country struggling against the godless Soviet Union while the Left, led mostly by trade and students’ unions, was opposed to Washington’s global policies, including its pro-Israel stance.
During the Vietnam war, and also when we played the front-line state in a CIA-sponsored war in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union, the Pakistani Left was on the wrong side of the fence while the Jamaat and its like-minded fellow travelers were seen actively supporting the US.
ZA Bhutto’s political popularity in West Pakistan in the late 1960s can also be attributed partly to his anti-US posturing which attracted the then Left in a state of surge in Pakistan in a big way to his party whose foundation papers were based on left-of-centre policies. It was during the last days of Mr Bhutto that the Left coined a very catchy slogan — America ka jo yaar hai wo Ghaddar Hai, Ghaddar Hai. Peoples Party workers used to shout this slogan all through the 11 years of Zia’s rule. Benazir Bhutto, on her return in 1986 from her first exile, put a ban on the frequent burning of the US flag and shouting of this slogan by protesting PPP workers.
It is only since the advent of Imran Khan’s PTI on Pakistan’s political horizon, especially since the party’s October 30, 2011 mammoth public meeting in Lahore, that the anti-American sentiments in Pakistan have once again been given a ringing voice. This has won Imran a government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and his daily outings in Punjab with strident anti-American narratives seem to have caused sleepless nights to the PML-N leadership.
Perhaps, that is the reason why Nisar has been assigned the job of neutralising Imran with his own anti-American outbursts.

@observer: You never replied about "Congressmen" Ron Paul. & now trying to hide the reality of Federal Reserve.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AidBugvVqpw another video for you from "Congressmen" Ron Paul.
@Eddied: I will not reply all your fantasies. However, the US has become a pariah state, and therefore it is not difficult to read anti American articles.
@ failed rebel...you clearly have been reading some anti American news sources that have filled you with lies and hate about the USA...conspiracy about zulfigar Ali Bhutto ?....you must be joking if you think that is true?...the truth is the USA gives Pakistan billions every year...we provide professional services and training for your engineers and military on modern methods...we provide aid for your infrastructure in the form of roads, buildings and dams....what other country provides you with half as much?...unfortunately you have rogue journalists who will say anything to build an audience and that leads to many half truths, misinterpreted opinions, and just plain lies being told about America. Also do not forget about the media influence of The mullahs who's leaders keep their people under control by blaming every problem on The west...The radical Islamists want you to believe that the war in Pakistan is Americas war...that is because they are actually working for your enemies that are killing thousands in Pakistan...America tried to help you by eliminating the biggest terrorist leader but the mullahs have turned that around into appearing to be a bad thing and have praised the terrorists...they have confused many of the common people and you are just one of them...
@Eddied: You are mistaken and your rhetoric will not change minds if you are not positive. I do not blame you for not realizing the real picture. The anti-American sentiment in Pakistanis lies because of what USA does when it forces Pakistani slave-rulers to act on command. Believe it or not, had we not been supporting USA on its War on Terror, the insurgency would have been non-existent. Militancy is not recent in Pakistan, but at this scale, with such high casualties every year, this was never the case. USA has forced our slave-rulers to surrender our own people, made our national heroes apologize on mainstream media, conspired to kill Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, promoted insurgency to keep Pakistan from developing into a leading Muslim Nuclear state. Why does the USA do this? Simply because everyone knows Pakistan is against Israel, and though we do not have any intention of bombing Israel, USA (controlled by a lobby in Israel) is not willing to take any chances. What they do is use their influence on banks etc. to keep drowning Pakistan under deficit and keep making it weaker. As I said, I don't blame you, and you have to be open to understand what I am trying to tell you. I recommended something for you to watch because it is all about your economy. Do oblige. - Peace.
@Sexton Blake: Thank you for recognition. Yes, I am trying hard that my people understand. I started following mainstream media like Dawn, ET, Geo, ARY recently, before that I used to rely on free-media reports and free analysts which aren't usually allowed to be on air.
@observer: Jigger, it is very reaffirming for me that you have shown interest. Watch The Money Makers documentary. Open your eyes and see through all the moves of governments in the bigger picture!
My people really need to wake up. Not for a party, but for Pakistan! - Respect.
@bachtiyar....WOW, I have never seen so many lies about the USA written in one comment...my favorite is blaming America for the religious oppression that is occurring all over the Muslim world ....that one is really a whopper!....this is too bad to be an accident...do they pay you to make up these unrelated facts and present them as anti American truth or is it just an a hobby? Oops, sorry, I forgot I was talking to a Pakistani who has conspiracy theories in his DNA...and unfortunately he believes them...
Shoddy journalism. For most of Pakistan's history, Pakistan was firmly pro-American no matter the political or religious spectrum.
The start of the mistrust was in 1971, with the US blatant treachery against Pakistan. US again abandoned both Pakistan and Afghanistan after the fall of the Soviet Union. After Pakistan's nuclear tests in response to India's, US put sanctions only on Pakistan (not India) which adversely effected our economy. In 2001, the US invaded an ally of Pakistan in Afghanistan, without giving any chance for dialogue or negotiations, replacing it with an anti-Pakistan puppet. Furthermore, the US invited India to build bases and military ties to its puppet Afghan regime against Pakistan. Recently, the US, Indian, and Israelis have been pouring money in the BLA, MQM, and TTP. The US only targets the TTP with drone strikes if they reach out to the Pakistani government for negotiations. Clearly, some powers doesn't want peace in Pakistan.
The religious dimension is the result of the US tacit approval of the oppression, subjugation, and denial of rights of Muslim populations (Palestinians, Kashmiris, Chechnyans, etc) by its allies (Israel, India, Russia, etc), along with the human suffering inflicted on Afghanis, Iraqis, Egyptians, Yemenis, Somalis, and Pakistanis by direct US involvement.
I was born in Pakistan and immigrated to the USA in the 1980's, so know both sides of the view. BOTH sides are highly misguided about the other. Pakistanis foolishly blame America for all the evils that they themselves created, be it the economy, the crime, the sectarianism, or the terrorism - it's always someone else's fault. Nothing will change for Pakistan until Pakistani's own up to the fact that 99% of their problems are self inflicted and NO ONE from outside can help them. Don't overlook the fact also that when disaster strikes Pakistan (floods, earthquakes) it is America and the West that come to their help, and not China. So stop blaming America and get your own house in order. American's for their part are clueless about Pakistan and their narrow view is guided by what they see/hear on CNN and FOX. Pakistani's by a large margin are anti-terrorism, peace loving, people who mind their own business and don't sit around plotting terrorist attacks on the US and play with the $$billions that FOX repeatedly claims the US showers on Pakistan. And the small money received by Pakistan is a fraction of the compensation to off-set the cost of US military logistics that go through Pakistan to Afghanistan. Pakistan has lost a lot more and gained nothing from the US war in Afghanistan. There is a dire need of a civilized dialogue between the average citizens of both countries to understand eachother.
Does anyone care what an average American thinking about Pak?
@The Failed Rebel: Dear Failed Rebel, You were spot on in regard to the Federal Reserve. Obviously you would need to write several thousand words to explain the full implications of what the problem is. Unfortunately the several billion people who do not understand would fall asleep after reading the first 200 words. However, keep up the good work. Some of them may eventually catch on.
@The Failed Rebel:
The central bank of USA, The Federal Reserve is privately owned which means that a private group actually controls the inflation, monetary flow of the country.
Sir Ji,
Here is a link to the Federal Reserve. As you can see it has .gov address.
http://www.federalreserve.gov/aboutthefed/default.htm
Now, either please provide some verifiable information about the 'Owners' or peddle your disinformation elsewhere.
I know exactly what you are talking about and no it is not a conspiracy theory. Bankers use war as a mean to generate debt and hence control economy. The central bank of USA, The Federal Reserve is privately owned which means that a private group actually controls the inflation, monetary flow of the country. If anything, I feel sorry for the American people that they are even more controlled than the us, the Pakistanis. Americans deserve a fair share of the taxes they pay turning into services. But this doesn't happen, to top it off there is huge unemployment in America. Even to the common man who unplugs himself from the media, and simply looks at the figures will understand this. Trillions spent. That money could have been used inside the USA to create jobs. A very interesting website for those who want more information: http://costofwar.com Do watch Money Makers Documentary. I seek to educate the ET readers with what is actually going on.
@The Failed Rebel: "They will not benefit from Wars". Dear Failed Rebel, I agree with what you said, but would explain to the masses that an extremely small elite group will benefit big time as a result of the idiot wars which the US routinely becomes embroiled in. I will be accused of being a conspiracy theorist, but have to say that there is a small group of unbelievably wealthy people who have an agenda. I wonder if ET will print this, and cannot wait for childish responses from csmann and unbelievable?.
why there is no sou moto....interior minister married to U.S. citizen..politicians shows their anti-American sentiment,to hide their failure...at present maximum American funding project in KP under PTI govt
Its too difficult to accept your own mistakes so folks engage blame the US instead and feel better.
It is typical Pakistani mentality. Point the finger at someone for your bad condition rather than righting your own ship. Until we fix this culture of ours, we will always be a useless nation.
@Eddied: No, incorrect. The life of the common American is not an easy ride, a false of sense of security and pride it holds. Nothing else. Taxes are continuously being levied on them due to wars they cannot fight/win and neither will they benefit from them. The American economy is in a worst situation than you can imagine. Just a glimpse of the American economy: Watch The Money Makers documentary. Might open your eyes :) - Respect (Because your taxes are actually used by my military)
The American people are starting to recognize the liars and double dealing Pakistanis who anxiously take our generosity but then work against us behind our backs....the world is very well connected today and people on the other side of the planet know what you are doing on the same day you do it...it is a shame because the Americans really do want Pakistan to live in a peaceful country and be prosperous...however they also know how confused you have become even about who your local terrorist enemies are that are suicide bombing your people...the useless conspiracy theories about CIA involvement with the extremist who are murdering your people only serve your enemies...but as the author says Pakistanis love to hate america...and that is probably because Americans live such a peaceful, comfortable, prosperous life... and jealousy easily leads to hate...
@The Failed Rebel: China is no fool to invest in the port.Once the resources and pumped out it will be heading straight on the highway to China with Pakistan holding the lolipops
Apart from hating America the next big business is burning American flags which is a full time industry. They are not able to meet demand and maybe selling in black market as well!.
The Failed Rebel : You are correct in blaming the neocons in Washington and not the American public at large. If u have stopped at that, may be that is correct. But your tangential take off on the following points is way off the mark. 1. Why should a friend relieve you of your debt when your taxing system favours the rich. US or IMF would not want to add the coffirs of Zardari or NAwaz or any other land mafias. In short, God will help only if you help yourselves. 2. US was right about the duplicity of Pak starting from the escaping flight from Kunduz to OBL's obituary at Abbatabad and to the never ending story of terroism anywhere else having some Pakistani connection. 3. RAW helping unrest in KP or Baluchistan is neither proven nor substantiated. Even if it does, it only helps Pak concentrate there instead of troubling India in Kashmir which is the stated policy of Pak army, establishment, public at large and non state actors. If Pak could not be made to understand over talks, the language has to be changed to its own to make it understand 4. No one in the world hates or loves the Islamic systems you are proud of. The communism is on the way out and diff forms of socialistic/socio capitalistic economics rule the world. The capitalism will absorb whatever it thinks is beneficial to it. It does not attach the religious angle to its philosophies. 5. Your strict social policies are nowhere in the muslim countries for any one to take note of. Pl go thru the recent IMF report which says plugging gender inequality will increase the muslim countries' GDP. Even poligamy is not accepted by the rest of the world as it is unfair to the women.
ET: Pl publsh
@Sexton Blake: But yet my people do not understand.
@All: I cannot help but to agree that the politicians are using anti-American slogans just for political gain and in reality lack the vision of how the foreign lobbies are conspiring against Pakistan. In essence, this act gives exactly the same results as a pro-American party. What my people do not understand is that they are part of a bigger game, and that several conspiracy theories are true if we research authentically and critically. What I have failed to understand in all this scenario is that if USA is a friend of Pakistan, why does it shy away from freeing us from our loans, after all we could have been a far greater ally in the war on terror had we been able to hold our feet. Still, we have to beg for aides and all we get are loans designed to drench us deeper in poverty and unemployment. USA has spent trillions on war. Had it freed Pakistan of its loans, Pakistan would have had successfully eliminated the radicalism in the region. Doing so would have enabled the US to have the strongest possible ally in South Asia. Instead we often find that CIA/RAW are pouring in resources to keep KP and Baluchistan hostile. Systematic propaganda is being done to achieve radicalism in the region. In my research regarding this, spanning around 6 years, I have come to the conclusion that the sole purpose of the foreign lobbies to keep Pakistan unstable and keep it deep under deficit is because a sovereign Muslim state is a direct threat to several anti-Islam ideologies/nations that exist in the world. Our interest-less economic system, free-market trade, strict social policies to injustice are in their true essence a killer to all the "liberal", "communist" and "democratic" ideologies of the world. Only these notions add up in line with the fact that CIA/RAW are funding radical elements operating in Pakistan so as to create unrest in KP and Baluchistan. That is being done so that we cannot excavate our resources lying in their belly. They are worth more than a trillion dollars. Which means not only would we be able to pay off our loans, we will actually grow faster than China because of the huge trade doors it will unlock. When we consider possibilities it is not far fetched to think of a 10-lane silk route directly heading forward to Gwadar! Pakistan Zindabad!
@Genius: Dear Genius, You are quite right in referring to the Mafia. Unfortunately, the controlling Mafia in Washington is not the Sicilian Cosa Nostra. It comes from further south.in the East.
US is not interested in popularity contest. Pakistanis have unreal expectations.
Pakistanis love US when weapons/money flow in. They hate US because they hate to pay debts. US foreign policy has always been to protect US interests. Pak should also have the same policy but first stand on its own feet.
God bless the American people. God damn the enemies of the American people who congregate in Washington. It may sound strange but it is a fact that right under the nose of some very evil people in the US Government system, work some very right thinking people. But as usual are helpless. Why is it so? The Americam people have not organised themselves to make it impossible for the evil people to made a headway into their system of Governemnt. The ball is in the court of the American people in common with the people throughout the world. The onus is on the people wheter the American people or people anywhere else to organise themselves. Organise so that no Mafia can enslave them.
@Ariba:
Ron Paul was never a Senator. He also doesn't believe the U.S. should give one red cent to Pakistan.
If "Nisar has been assigned the job of neutralising Imran with his own anti-American outbursts," then how is it that Nisar's wife is an America citizen who has pledged allegiance to the United States of America. Isn't Nisar a hypocrite or should the USA take away Nisar's wife's citizenship for being married to a US hater? Or why not Nisar should be expelled from Pakistan or at least from his Interior Ministry position for being a pseudo Pakistani and Begum Nisar expelled from USA or US citizenship. Some poetic justice should be forthcoming.
and shamelessly the longest lines standing outside US embassies to get visas will be of Pakistanis.
For a country that survives on food aid from the US these guys sure talk a big deal.
@Sexton Blake: Yet can go to any length to settle in the US.
Think this before begging money from them. beggars must not hate donor.
Nobody hates American citizens but hate America's foreign policy. Americans hate themselves when it comes to Foreign policy of invading countries & killing millions & openly supporting tyrants, rebels, dictators etc.
Americans themselves are not hating some internal policies & crying about America becoming a police state.
Even Senator Ron Paul knows why everyone hates America's foreign policy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cH3GO-XWGws
The question is why hardly no one in the world, hates Norway or Germany? USA was a different country in the 18/19th century...but the last 120 years are a different story altogether.and for those who remain in denial...there is one response... read unbiased good history.
It is beneath you all Supreme Pakistanis to consider weaklings Hindu baniyas to be your enemies. You should select your enemies to suit your ego. America is your more appropriate enemy. Keep it up. This is very good for India.
Complaining about the American's is akin to complaining about the weather - something everyone does and something that accomplishes nothing. What amazes me is that regardless of how outrageous the allegation it's never challenged by anyone - no analysis no debate just people piling on until the allegation becomes fact. . Politician's have used anti American blather to distract the people for a very long time - you would think that the people would wise up and hold their govt responsible for Pakistan but hasn't happened yet.
