LAHORE:

A consumer court on Monday summoned the proprietor of a shoe shop by January 2 in a suit seeking Rs300,000 damages.

Petitioner Muhammad Humayun said he had purchased a pair of shoes for his sister from LBM Metro Shoes at Liberty Market on August 26 for Rs 1,995.

Humayun said on August 27, he took his sister to a family wedding, where the upper part of the shoe came off. This was embarrassing for his sister, he said.

He contacted the shop owner the next day, he said, and was told to bring the shoe to the store. He said he did and was asked to pick up the shoe in a week.

But when he went back to collect the shoe, he was told to return again in a week. He said this had gone on for several weeks.

He asked the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs300,000 damages for the humiliation and inconvenience.
