Polio 56, Pakistan zero

Letter November 11, 2013
If stringent steps are not taken, the World Health Organisation may recommend a travel ban on all Pakistanis.

KARACHI: With reference to your editorial “Polio 56, Pakistan zero” (November 10), the government should prevent people from polio-infected areas from traveling to other parts of the country. If stringent steps are not taken, the World Health Organisation may recommend a travel ban on all Pakistanis to prevent the spread of polio. The recent polio virus in Syria is thought to have originated in Pakistan and probably transmitted by pilgrims.
