Rohit Sharma hit an impressive century on debut to help India recover from a top-order collapse and put them in the driver’s seat in the first Test against the West Indies, with a 120-run first-innings lead yesterday.

Sharma was in prime form during his 127-run innings, which saw India come back into the match after their top order was dismantled cheaply, according to the Times of India.

He was ably supported by Ravichandran Ashwin, who was unbeaten at 92, as the duo helped India sail from a precarious position at 83 for five at one stage to a comfortable 354 for six at close in the second day’s play.

The tourists posted 234 all out in the first innings.

BTW India crushed West Indies by an innings & 51 runs. Cheers !

Chona | 11 years ago | Reply Ashwin 97 wickets in 17 tests...Amazing tally.... but so far he has only played 3 tests abroad taking 9 wickets at average of "62" and 14 tests played at home taking 88 wickets at almost "24"...... so let us see what he does vs SA in SA... one more thing Ashwin debuted in 2011 and in 2 years he has only played 3 tests abroad....BCCI should give him more tests abroad so that he can prove himself abroad as well...
