Weinstein was kidnapped from his house in Lahore’s Model Town on August 13, 2011.
The arrested suspect – Saifullah – was nominated in the case along with two others: Imran and Afzaal.
The other two suspects are still at large.
Previous arrest
Saifullah was arrested soon after the kidnapping and was interrogated by security officers about his involvement in the case.
The accused was release due to lack of evidence. However, police recently gathered new evidence and Saifullah was again declared wanted.
He was arrested today on the basis of new evidence that points at his possible involvement in the kidnapping.
Warren Weinstein
Weinstein had lived in Lahore since 2006, working for J E Austin Associates.
A biography of Weinstein on his consulting firm’s website said he has a doctorate in international law and economics, is a Fulbright Scholar with 25 years of experience in international development projects who speaks six foreign languages and is well known among donor agencies.
Weinstein was kidnapped just 48 hours before ending a four-year foreign assignment and returning home to Washington DC.
In videos released subsequently, al Qaeda confirmed they held Weinstein.

Seriously if you are a foreigner and cannot blend in please don't come to Pakistan it is just not safe now, except maybe Islamabad but still you never know as you become a much easier target, just sad about the situation. I am surprised that this man is still missing, I remember hearing about him ages ago. I know people come purely for work reasons as the job markets worldwide are competitive but really your life is far more important.
