A police official was killed and another was injured when militants attacked a check post in Serai Naurang tehsil of Lakki Marwat late Monday night, SHO Ghulam Muhammad said on Tuesday.
Muhammad said unidentified militants attacked the Sur Pal check post at around 11:30pm on Kot Kashmir Road near Naz Sultan Mehmood area. “One of the policemen, Constable Sher Nawaz was killed as a result of the ensuing gunfight while another policeman was injured and fell unconscious.”
He said Nawaz was critically injured and rushed to Bannu Headquarters Hospital but died on the way. He added the other policeman, Imran Khan, initially went missing but was found injured in a nearby field in Chaman Kallay. Imran was then admitted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
SHO Muhammad claimed one of the militants was also killed in the shoot-out while the others managed to escape.
