The missile has a range of 60 kilometers and can carry any type of warhead.
Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Pervez Kayani was present at the test fire, which was confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Pakistan had conducted a successful test fire of Hatf IX on February 11 this year, according to the ISPR.
The test fire in February was conducted with successive launches of two missiles from a state of the art multi-tube launcher.
NASR, with an in-flight manoeuvre capability can carry nuclear warheads of appropriate yield, with high accuracy, said the ISPR's press release.
NASR has also been specially designed to defeat all known Anti-Tactical Missile Defence Systems.
The first successful test of the short range surface to surface multi tube ballistic missile Hatf IX was conducted in April 2011.

@S Ahmed This is exactly what i expected of Pakistanis. Our space program makes 100 times more money that goes into it. And the money 'spent' actually goes in the pockets of indian scientists and companes. The mars rover will give us an technological edge that no asian country has been able to get so far (not even China or Japan). And this missile, this is the biggest waste of money. You still cant beat india and india is not goint to attack you. Nuclear powers dont use missiles over each other ! Why dont you spend the money on your shattered economy or building dams? 60KM missile is no match to Indian tactical 100 -150 KM Prahaar missile, long range missiles and fighter jets with satellite surveillance can take out Hatf missile in no time. This is a futile effort waste of money for pakistan.
Just as Pakistan points a gun at its own head to blackmail the rest of the world, it has now developed a missile to use on itself, that why a range of only 60 km.

Indian strategic policies are just to coerce smaller states to submit to Indian ambitions and the only state that gave India the competition is Pakistan. That made India more aggressive towards Pakistan and India’s nuclear development since last 3 decades forced Pakistan to develop nuclear weapon to assure defense and security. Now to counter India’s conventional arms and Cold Start doctrine Pakistan has developed full spectrum doctrine, disappointed by this India is acting irresponsibly. NASR is tested again with more accuracy, which is a real deal.

I think Harry have a point. In this world, two things work the best: incentives and deterrence. I would submit that age old system ‘might is the right’ is the only system which governs our modern civilized world. Pre-emptive strikes, is one such example. Another could be Abbottabad operation. What message it implicitly conveys to weak countries like Pakistan! Make their defense stronger. Perhaps that what Pakistan is trying to do.
