LAHORE:

A consumer court on Monday ordered the arrest of proprietors of Al-Jannat Mobile by November 27 in a suit seeking Rs5,030,250 damages.

Petitioner Shahid Iqbal told the court he had gone to Al-Jannat Mobile, looking to buy two CDs for his computer. He said the salesman persuaded him to buy DVDs instead.

He said the salesman had assured him that he could return the DVDs if he couldn’t use them.

He said he later found out he did not have the DVD hardware and went to the shop to exchange the DVDs for the CDs. The salesman told him they were out of CDs and asked him to return in a few days. He said when he asked for his money, he was threatened with “dire consequences”.

He asked the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs5,000,000 damages, Rs30,000 litigation fee and Rs250 for the DVDs.

The court had issued notices to the shop owners previously but no one has appeared on their behalf .
