Search operation: Policemen killed in shootout

He was killed in a gunfight following a search operation launched by the district police in Elam mountain, Buner.

BUNER: A police official was killed in a gunfight following a search operation launched by the district police in Elam mountain, Buner on Monday. Police targeted offenders hiding in the mountain and cleared the peak, SP Buner Asif Iqbal told the media during a briefing. He added they were conducting a routine operation; Swat police do the same on their side of the mountain. “Unidentified persons hiding in Ram Mani opened fire at the police, as a result of which one of our colleagues, Inamur Rehman, died on the spot.” The SP added they carried out the offensive earlier in Gokand, Kalabat and other parts of the district. Iqbal said though the hideouts have been destroyed, the criminals managed to flee to nearby forests.
