The Goethe-Institute presented a German play adapted in Urdu “Choti, Moti aur SM Hamid” by Grips Theatre for students of Roots DHA-1 campus.

The story, written by Imran Aslam, pivots around three children Choti (Faiza Kazi), Moti (Ayesha Sheikh) and Tota (Khaled Anam). They seemed to have invited the wrath of a landlord (Sajeeruddin) in their neighbourhood by playing games on his property.

The children are also rebelling against the neighbourhood’s older lot which has stopped them from playing in the street.

Soon, another child, SM Hamid, joins them and gradually a gang of four is formed. The play then revolves around a game of cat and mouse between police officials brought in to rein the kids and the children themselves.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the interactive play. Isma Wahid of class IG3B said “The characters’ names were really funny and so was the acting.” Zoha Asad of the same grade felt the entertaining play was a good break from routine studies.

In the end all the students cheered and gave a thunderous applause to the actors.
