“Happy Birthday to a good friend, a great guide and best team member to have when playing FIFA! Shahrukh Khan, have a super year, big love,” tweeted Abhishek Bachchan. Long-time friend choreographer Farah Khan, who was probably part of his birthday celebrations, also shared her love for him on the micro-blogging website. “Happy birthday to my wiser, richer and ‘older-than-me’ friend! Pictures abhi baaki hain mere dost! [the pictures will follow] Love you!” she posted.
Celebrities aside, it seems that SRK has even made a name for himself amongst politicians. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also came forward to wish the star on his birthday. “Today is Shahrukh Khan’s birthday. I spoke to him yesterday [Friday] and congratulated him,” said Banerjee, on her official Facebook page.
She also highlighted Khan’s importance to the state as the Brand Ambassador. “He is Bengal’s Brand Ambassador and loves Bengal. We all wish him a very happy birthday and many more years of success, prosperity and health.”
Shahrukh has won the hearts of millions with films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai and more recently, Chennai Express. This is probably why his loyal fans gathered outside his house on Friday night with crackers and posters.
Being the humble person that he is, Shahrukh took to Twitter to thank his fans for their undying love. “Thank you everyone — all who came outside the house with crackers and posters. Love to you all and apologies to the neighbours. Your love makes me happy,” he tweeted.
The actor also thanked fans for admiring his work. “The mark of one born with noble qualities is being born without envy — Francois. Now because of your love, I envy no one. Thanks all for ennobling me,” he added.
