CHARSADDA:

A girl and her male friend were gunned down on Saturday in Stana Dar Kali area of Mandani, Charsadda district in an apparent case of honour killing.

According to an official of Mandani police, Yousaf Shah arrived at his house in the morning and allegedly found his niece Saima and her friend Munir, a resident of Mardan, in compromising circumstances.

The police official added Shah locked the pair in a room and called Saima’s brother Ijaz. Both men then opened fire at Saima and Munir, killing them on the spot, before fleeing. “A case has been filed against both the accused and an investigation is underway,” he said.

In October, a case of honour killing claimed the lives of four of a family in Mardan. According to police, armed men barged into the house of Sher Muhammad in Maskeenabad, Jalala on October 7 and opened fire. Shah and his 14-year-old daughter Hina died on the spot, while his wife Shahida and 12-year-old daughter Mahnaz died in the hospital the next day. According to police, Wisal and Ubaid, residents of Peshawar, had allegedly murdered Shah’s family because Wisal’s daughter had eloped with Shah’s son.
