Football: Islamabad, HEC through to women’s final

Islamabad and Higher Education Commission (HEC) booked their place in the final round of the 9th National Women Football Championship yesterday.


In the last Group D match in Islamabad, the hosts defeated HEC 1-0 at the Jinnah Stadium. Wardah Bibi scored the winner in the sixth minute of the match for Islamabad. Despite the result, HEC will go on to compete in the final round, courtesy their second place in the group. Islamabad and HEC have joined Diya WFC, Balochistan United WFC, Wapda, Punjab, Young Rising Star WFC and Army in the final round of the championship that will be played later this month.
