The MQM said the decision to expand the population base for city councils to 50,000 and that of rural councils to more than 2,000 is extremely unjust, and the provincial government was taking every possible action to reduce representation from urban areas.
The press release further alleged that the Sindh Local Government Act 2013 is a clear attempt at effecting a linguistic divide in the province.
"It is the height of injustice that the provincial authorities have not even released their delimitation details to the public, so that one may record his reservations with the plan."
The party further claimed that by passing the Sindh Local Government Bill 2013, the Sindh Assembly had reduced the seats for local government
It urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take immediate notice of the delimitation bill, so the injustice is stopped before local bodies elections commenced.

We Indians should provide asylum to Muhajirs who are treated with discrimination in Pakistan.
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: i stll hold ayub in high regard and i live in islamabad karachi cannot provide the dynamic climate or natural beauty of isloo it was a fine shift
@Navaid: pashtuns of karachi will make you eat youre words
Fact is that Sindh Province is splitted alone linguistic (ethnic) lines since 1947 when as a state policy Urdu speaking Indians (Mohajirs / refugees) started setelling in the Sindh cities displacing the locals. Now this linguistic (ethnic) fault line tension runs deepest into Pakistan society. From 1980s, the Pashtuns (of Afghanistan / Pakistan) also started setelling in Karachi. And Mohajirs pitted against local Sindhis / Pashtuns as well as federal forces. Sectarian divide complicated the situation. Pakistan failed to create a Pakistani Nationalism. The statement by Muhajir party - MQM - reflects its anxiety.
So shall your reap so shall you sow.
MQM is the biggest beneficiary of the linguistics divide, whenever they got in the corner they shed crocodile tears, get emotions stir-up and then as always Sweet Sweet Hup Hup Sour Sour Tho Tho.
MQM lost the chance of the century on 18th Amendment, they can finish the linguistic administrative division there & then but they criminally choose no to.
regards.
I would say MQM should go to courts and hold press conferences any every city not only in Karachi, as PPP is playing weak on this issue and whole county will support MQM if they do proper compaigning
It was Urdu speaking people who took the control of Pakistan administratively after the independence and ran the show from 1947 onwards until 1960.
People who were not Urdu speaking, they were following the Urdu speaking like any thing.
The conspiracy started in 1960 against Urdu speaking people when a Pathan and self proclaimed former President of Pakistan (who became President from the back door) Ayub Khan moved the Capitol from Karachi to Islamabad.
The next axe came from the Sindhi speaking former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who imposed "Quota System" in the country after breaking Pakistan into two parts and allowing Bangladesh to emerge on the world map by saying "Idhar Hum", "Udhar Yum" to Sheikh Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, a Bengali politician who was power hungry.
In fact all other people living in different provinces are jealous from Urdu speaking people due to their education and ability to deliver and leave no stone unturned to push all the Urdu speaking people towards the wall, but they will never be able to do that for a long time.
They all want that Urdu speaking people should go and die in the sea, but they don't know that they will be the people who are forcing Urdu speaking people to make their separate province.
The time is not very far.
@abcd: Separate province? HAHA, wake up kid, the story has gone well beyond separate province......very soon, you will witness the birth of a Mohajir Republic.
Not a MQM fan but 50,000 in MQM's stronghold while 2,000 in PPP's stronghold is very unjust indeed. PPP will get much more Union Councils than its actual representation!
In other words, this is open enmity with Karachi and its inhabitants by PPP - they are cornering Karachi's majority to the brink after which no other option will remain for them apart from creating a separate province. In other words PPP is destroying Sindh in the long haul
