DUBAI: Pakistan won the second One Day International (ODI) by 66 runs to level the five match series by 1-1.
Shahid Afridi and Muhammad Irfan were pick of the bowlers as both took three wickets each. Saeed Ajmal claimed two wickets.
Ryan McLaren was the highest South African run scorer and remained not out on 29.
Earlier, Pakistan were bowled out for 209 in the the second match of the five match One Day International series against South Africa, setting the Proteas a 210 run target to chase in the Dubai night.
However, it was not all smooth sailing for Pakistan who were coasting a 112 for two at one point after Ahmed Shehzad had struck 58 runs (85 balls).
While Umer Amin and Umar Akmal attempted to steady the ship, both were dismissed close together to leave Pakistan reeling at 148 for six, exposing the Pakistani tail.
However, the tailenders managed to pull Pakistan over 200 with cameos from Shahid Afridi (26 off 20 balls) and Wahab Riaz (18 off 24 balls).
For South Africa, Ryan Mclaren and Morne Morkel were the pick of the bowlers, claiming four and three wickets respectively. Spinner Imran Tahir, who has been the main bogeyman for Pakistan in the Test and the ODI series so far, managed to pick only one wicket though in his 10 overs he conceded only 28 runs.
Earlier, Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bat.
In the first match of the five-match series, Pakistan was defeated by South Africa, giving the latter a 1-0 lead on October 30 in Sharjah. South Africa had won by one run, finishing at a score of 183.

Now this is cricket with top notch spin and pace attack. Congratulation to green shirts. pacers from both team were excellent,especially Irfan and South African pacers. master spinner ajmal though he got only two wickets gave a classic performance. let's see the next match whether very talented but inconsistent Umar akmal lives up to our expectations. good luck and good hunting. Wonder what is being played in India it certainly is not cricket.
@ABKhan: So the current topic is india bat Australia by 56 runs. You can now very we'll rejoice.
@ABKhan: Yes that's your own backyard which is burning Go douse the fire, lest even Netherlands , Somalia and Cameroon will start thumping you. Peace.... Happy Diwali
@Halloween:
And still lost the last bilateral series to struggling Pakistani series almost a white wash.........lol
@chona:
Yes let see what can they do. Since our butchers are not even good enough to be employed in a mutton shop.
@Vaqar:
fully agree with you Vaqar. one needs to have serious talent to show this kind of iconsistency.
Why are we even playing when we can't even host in our own country?
@antanu:
so my comment on the statement was also for future matches, not on the present one. I ve already said that he got wrong this time.
As far as stupidity is concerned its quite evident whos looking one ,faking an indian identity time and again and has the audacity to call others fake.
@Vaqar: as for being inconsistent... it is a trait in the subcontinent. remember the loss of India in Australia and England.... fans and critics were hounding for Dhoni's head... but one series in the country and he was again a GOD.
@Vaqar: please try to spell your own name correctly... if not faked... before providing fancy forecasting
@Sfax: his comment was for ongoing match and not ensuing ones. please don't give excuses for stupid comments.
Yes. I still stand by my statement. Also I fully agree with what MA has said about the Pakistani fans being as inconsistent as the team. They blow hot and cold.
Till the time the whole team contributes, I do not think we have any thing to be happy about. Meanwhile, may I suggest that the team be renamed as "Pakistan Bowling Team" as that is about the only thing this team is good at?
Love You LaLa and love that time when you are on striker's End !!!!!!!
Its funny how we, the fan public change our minds about this Pak team. How does that saying goes, ' Pal main tola...' It should be interesting to see our reaction when they lose the next match
@Truth detector: That's the problem with you people .. instead of savouring hard earned victory of your team, you are sulking our the success of someone else.
@chona: This is Intl cricket not gully cricket. There is a list of banned substances and approved substances by ICC. Nothing is out of the rule book. Prior to every series, the management of both team sits together and lay down rules and regulations for the series.
26 runs and 3 wickets, where is Mr. Ch. Allahdad and other Lala's basher's. you can not win a match until without Afridi.This is a fact, Enjoyyyyyyy
@PP: Hehe don't worry you'll give him enough chances to haunt you
@Truth detector:
India are the
World champions Champions trophy champions No1 ODI team in the world No 3 test ranked team
Obviously everything wasn't played in India.
Your truth detecting instrument seems to be working as per your wishful desires.
The astrological configuration of stars is showing favourable trend in respect of Pakistan with this win and elimination of country's biggest enemy.
Match fixed......???
Congrats Team Pakistan.
@antanu:
The probability of his prophecy going right in future matches is extremely high, considering the dismal state of Pakistani cricket. So disgusting to see the state of our cricket in present condition. The way we lost the first match is an absolute shame.
Indians, this is cricket. You are destroying cricket by making dead wickets ( bowlers graveyard) so that Kohli can score another century that is the reason he is total flop on fast wickets.
@Dr Dang:
No Sreesanth was playing
@Chona: Totally agree with you. I have seen players using Mueller Magic Grip spray on their hands and gloves as well. I hope ICC clarifies its stand on using such performance enhancers. If they are legal they should be used by all teams.
Where is username (Dhaka) now ???
Bowling makes this match won. Batting is still a major problem with poor batting order & batsmen.
