The decision was announced by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senator Raza Rabbani during a press conference.
Around 25 senators have signed the motion.
Rabbani said the motion states that the terrorism-related figures earlier provided by Nisar in the Upper House were incorrect and should be taken back. He said it is a democratic right of the senators to make such a demand.
The opposition parties had also sought an apology from Nisar for misleading the house and providing incorrect figures about the victims of terrorism.
Heated debate
A war of words broke out between Rabbani and Nisar on October 30 after Nisar presented figures of casualties from terrorist attacks – stats which were swiftly challenged by an ANP senator who called them a “pack of lies”.
PPP senator Aitzaz Ahsan further asked the interior minister to take back the statistics and return with correct numbers.
Nisar remained unmoved in his seat and this response triggered a heated altercation among the members of the two benches.
Later the combined opposition excluding MQM walked out of the house.

@Bilal: First of all the article had nothing to do with price hikes. So your comment was non-sequitur. I am surprised the mods allowed it. But since you are talking about price hikes, let me join the discussion.
The price hikes are unavoidable. If people do not pay taxes, government cannot subsidies beyond a point. Removing subsidies will lead to price hike.
Likewise if there is such a severe forex shortage then IMF or not, currency will depreciate. That. Too will lead to inflation.
You seem to be quite juvenile.
This country can't run on subsidies. PPP got into shoddy IPP deals and masked the horrendous deals with subsidies . We can't afford it anymore.

By the way where were they all especially Mr Rabbani for the last five years when their government gave honorable exit to Musharaff. Yes one thing for Mr Rabbani and Atzaz can you tell the nation how you got the time bar for Zardari's Swiss Cases, and if they are so loyal to Pakistan then please bring Zardari's looted money home. Then this whole drama is justified.
@Bilal: We all want things to be done by the government: nudge the economy back on track of healthy growth trajectory; eliminate the energy shortages; improve law and order, or mitigate security concerns; improve governance; reduce corruptions; and so on.......................... There is no doubt that these issues must be tackled by the Govt. But, unfortunately, no one is willing to pay the price.
