Joint action: Pakistan and Russia to join forces for energy projects

Port Qasim, Gadani and Neelam Jhelum highlighted as prospective hydro power projects where Russia could participate.

Minister of State for water and power Abid Sher Ali, met the Russian Deputy Minister of Energy Sentyurin Yuriy Petrovich in Moscow and said Pakistan believed in a strong partnership with Russia.


Ali believes bilateral relations between the countries have stayed strong and can improve further in the field of energy. “Pakistan offers a lucrative market for the Russian Oil and Gas Export.

We must strengthen existing mechanisms of bilateral cooperation such as Inter-governmental Commission (IGC) and Joint Working Group (JWG) on energy to make them more productive” said Ali.

He mentioned prospective projects in hydro power generation such as Port Qasim, Gadani and Neelam Jhelum where Russia could participate.
