Threat averted : Bomb defused outside ex-MPA’s house

A passer-by spotted the suspicious looking sack and informed the police.

BANNU: A high-intensity bomb planted outside a former MPA’s house was defused by an official of the bomb disposal squad (BDS) on Saturday in Bannu. According to an official of Meryan police, unidentified militants planted a bomb weighing 10 kilogrammes near the house of  Sayed Hamid Shah, a former MPA from PK-72 Bannu-III. The official said a passer-by spotted the suspicious looking sack and informed the police who rushed to the site along with BDS officials to defuse it. Meanwhile, in another incident, a rocket was fired at a house owned by Mir Sardar, damaging the wall of the hujra, the official added. Fortunately, no human loss occurred. On October 12, a high-intensity bomb planted by militants outside the gate of Bannu Woolen Mills was successfully defused by BDS.
