Ranbir Kapoor was on a roll with hits like Barfi! and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and, as a result, expectations for his latest film Besharam were naturally quite  high. It was because of the heartthrob that fans made their way to cinemas but the story speaks for itself – it was an utter letdown.

While Ranbir claims he’s taking failure in his stride and with grace, his actions speak otherwise. According to the grapevine, Ranbir called Besharam “complete nonsense” and ripped the movie ticket!

However, here’s what he had to say. “All films can’t be hits. My first film Saawariya was also a flop. There is no hit formula. Well, I don’t know if there is a hit formula or not,” he says, according to India Times. “Rather, I think I got the experience to work with my parents and [director] Abhinav Kashyap.” While pointing at his unkempt facial hair, he adds, “I am jobless now – I have no new films.”

Star value coupled with hype and hoopla can assure an impressive start at the ticket window, but for any film to last long, it ought to be backed by strong content. And while the movie saw the coming together of Ranbir and Kashyap of Dabangg fame, it was rejected by the audience, according to the Indian Express. Besharam also stars his parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh along with Jaaved Jaffery and newcomer Pallavi Sharda.

“I don’t regret doing Besharam,” he said, according to India Today, about the movie that was trashed completely by critics. “I don’t regret anything in my life.”

When asked what ultimately went wrong with the film, he repeated that he doesn’t have any formula to success. “I just work with conviction.”
