Theft and forgery: ‘Van transferred after owner’s death’
Petitioner files a case against a man for allegedly illegally transferring the ownership of a van to himself.
LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions judge sought comments from the Shahdra Town SHO for October 29 on a petition seeking a case against a man for allegedly illegally transferring the ownership of a van to himself by forging his late father’s signature. Petitioner Hafiz Naseer submitted that he used to drive the van, owned by one Mubarik Ali, but it had been stolen on October 30, 2011, from a PTI rally. The police found the van on July 27, 2013, and discovered that its ownership had been transferred to one Habib. The transfer was dated June 25, 2013, and contained the supposed thumb print and signature of Mubarik Ali, but he had died on May 4, the petitioner said. Naseer alleged that Ali’s son Muhammad Khalid had stolen the van and transferred it to Habib by forging his father’s signature and thumb print. He asked the court to direct the SHO to register a case against Khalid for theft and forgery.
