LAHORE:

The Punjab government has appointed Rashid Mahmood Langrial, the chairman of the Lahore Ring Road Authority, as divisional commissioner.

The government had removed Imdadullah Bosal from the post on Monday and given Agriculture Secretary Dr Ijaz Munir additional charge of the post on Thursday.

Dr Munir heard around 80 complaints about the new delimitations in Kasur city and Chunian for the local government elections on Saturday before relinquishing the additional charge. The commissioner serves as the delimitation authority for the division, meaning he hears and decides complaints about the drawing up of union council boundaries.

Langrial will take up the remaining complaints from Kasur district, around 60 pertaining to Kot Radha Kishan and Pattoki, on Sunday.

Kasur DCO Syed Javed Bukhari said that Dr Munir would decide the fate of the 80 complaints he heard as the delimitation authority. He said that he would submit his report on all the complaints in the district to the new commissioner by November 2.

The delimitation authority will hear complaints regarding Sheikhupura district on October 28 and 29, Nankana Saheb district on October 30, and Lahore district on October 31 and November 1. The Lahore DCO’s office has received 125 complaints. A total of 199 complaints have been received from Sheikhupura and 125 from Nankana Sahib.
