The minister, while speaking to the media in Lahore, said that efforts will be made to get the access to information bill passed from the Parliament and be made into a law.
Earlier this month, he had said the government had decided to restore Youtube 'in principle', and repeated this on Saturday. The video sharing website has been banned in Pakistan for the past 404 days.
In response to questions from reporters that the government was well aware of the security problems pervading the country.
The minister said drones were detrimental to the sovereignty of Pakistan and the government had taken effective measures to improve the country's law and order and economy.

What nonsense,
i mean they have been saying this for over a year now. Google doesn't give a damn because they don't care. Google runs on adverts and people who submits their ads to Google does not want to pay for clicks which are useless for example if i am selling something in London, why would i want to pay for a click on my ad in Pakistan.
if the government of Pakistan doesn't understand this then calling them fools would be going easy on them. they shouldn't have asked Google for anything in the first place. instead they should have tried screening of YouTube from day one.
Nice hahaha what a joke Mr Pervez Rasheed we no need your permission or anyone to use youtube or any kind of website. Pakistan Govt. sick they need medicine or propper treatment. If they want block some videos in Pakistan so block the link of that video not a whole website nonsense thousands of videos on youtube but whenever you gonna open those its have msg this video not for your country or you dont have permission to open this video coz of country so its not mean you gonna block whole domain. We are using youtube and we will use whatever we want and whatever you can block you do we dont care. Is this a real issue where we are wasting our time and resources, Are we done with the issues like, Law and order, inflation, devaluation of currency, Energy crises. Kindly pass a bill and constitute a price controlling and monitoring institution or watch dog body, that can monitor prices and quantity on daily basis… Because I believe the nation with high poverty has inflationary issue at top most priority… Kindly do not lower the oil prices to facilitate the traders and business man to have once more an opportunity to increase their earning margins. Oil prices increased by government… Consumer goods, prices are raised Means Perfect positive correlation.. Oil prices reduced by government… No change in consumer good… Means no correlation… that is how poor man is looted.. And kindly work on one more fraudulent activity.. Prices remain same but quantity is reduced day by day… This is fraudulent activity because Normal consumer can’t understand how he is being befooled. This needs the bill and proper allocation of recourses. J
Pakistan a land of progressive people, is unfortunately lead by monkeys. And it is these monkeys who have brought about disrepute to its people. Be it science, medicine, arts, literature, music, builders, craftsmen, plumbers, carpenters, drivers....Pakistanis are hardworking, intelligent and adaptable. Unfortunately, the hard workers have immigrated and left the land to monkeys and parasites, which has crippled its intellectual and moral capacity.
this man looks like he hasn't opened youtube in his entire life. why is he the information minister of a whole country?
We don't need to hear that you are opening youtube. those who have access to internet can do it even now without your permission. In guise of taking cradit for opening YouTube you bigots are making ways to intrude virtual privacy of internet users. We stand against placing filters on internet traffic. We support community where individuals have their full privacy in their virtual world. And one day when large number of people in the country get litrate and get understand what it means when someone intrude into your virtual privacy they will stand against it and will smash all your filters that you have bought by wasting our Money. Long live free world.
LOL - Chinese have more people monitoring the internet than they have in their military - and anyone with limited computer skills in China can access anything they want on the net. If "placing filters" makes you happy - go for it - but eventually your going to have to come to grips with reality - the only thing you can control is what you choose to watch/read.
"Youtube to be opened soon: Pervez Rasheed" Sir, for how many days it will remain open? Or until someone upload another video clips of the anti-Islamic film?
Its about time...hopefully they wont reverse the decision when the taliban threaten them which they surely will!
I feel like fool when anyone from the government give these kind of statements, its been more than an year now and dozens of 'to be opened soon' rhetoric. Either open it now, or keep your mouth mum.
