ISLAMABAD: The police defused half a kilogramme of explosives on Friday outside the house of former Member National Assembly Anjum Aqeel Khan in Golra Sharif. Police officials reached the spot after being informed of a suspicious package by Khan’s family and defused the device. Golra SHO Muhammad Saddiq said he was unsure of who could be behind the incident. Officials said a timer, mobile phone, battery, detonators and a pack of explosives were placed in a white polythene bag. Saddiq said the FIR had been registered. Khan, when contacted, said it was an act to target him as he is a political figure. “Although I have no personal enmity with anyone, someone wanted to target me,” he said. When asked if it could be the action of an aggrieved party of alleged land grabbing schemes of Khan, he ruled out the possibility and said he was not involved in any case of land grabbing.
