ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Police claimed they arrested a gang suspected of involvement in over four dozen burglaries in three cities around the country.

The three-member “inter-provincial” gang was busted by Aabpara police, which also recovered 28 stolen mobile phones, foreign currency, a camera, three pistols, seven laptops, wrist watches and gold ornaments, said a police official.

The police identified the suspects as Moeenuddin, Shabbir Ahmed and Muhammad Saqib. A local court sent them on a four-day physical remand after the police registered four cases against them and produced them in a court.

But the Aabpara police claimed the gang members had already confessed to their involvement in 50 burglaries in Karachi, Rawalpindi and Islamabad during initial interrogations. The police said the gang was planning a burglary in Sector G-6/4 before they were busted.

The gang members were arrested by special teams constituted by SP City Mustansar Feroz after receiving complaints of burglaries from the jurisdiction of the Aabpara Police Station.
