In addition to discussing the regional security situation, the two emphasised on the need to focus on promoting cooperation in trade and investment‚ energy‚ education‚ science and technology sectors to strengthen bilateral ties. Biden added that Washington would continue its contribution in helping Pakistan to over come its energy crisis.
The US vice president said that the US recognises sacrifices Pakistan has made in the war on terror.
Afghanistan
Nawaz reiterated Pakistan's commitment to facilitate an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
Both leaders agreed on the need to further strengthen the coordination and cooperation among Pakistan‚ the US and Afghanistan to ensure success of the reconciliation process.
Separately, Nawaz also met Secretary Treasury Jacob J Lew during the day.

Appreciably, Pak-US ties are headed towards the cooperation and mutual understanding. It is a productive approach that areas of cooperation been highlighted in order to move forward. Some controversial issues also go side by side for discussion of resolutions. No doubt there are certain points of contentions which hinder the developmental ties of both countries. But it is a time to widen the spectrum of coordination on multiple fields as it is a matter of mutual benefits as no country is immune from unstable elements.
Pakistan has always been proved it as a peaceful country and always remain forewarded in developing cordial relations with the international community memebers. To strengthen the relations between US and Pakistan which has become sour once it is necesary for both countries to start up with new and innovative initiatives. US should leave the policy of discrimination and should adopt a balanced policy towards South Asian states which is necessary for the regional stability and peace. Favouring only India raises concerns for Pakistan and also raises negative perceptions.

Ali, US is not a true partner. They have been betraying Pakistan since16th Century. Right now , Pakistan have not being compensated for the annual 4Trillion Dollar spent by Pakistan fighting the Talibans under Mullah Amar etc. Pakistan is not rich country and US congress can easily allocate twenty percent of QE to Pakistan as token of appreciation. Without this financial committment, Mian Sahib visit is a failure.
I doubt Sharif even knows the meaning of 'strategic dialogue'; God help us!
@ MC, If Indian could only stop supporting it's state sponsor terrorism in Kashmir, where over 100,000 killed, 20,000 raped, 30,000 disappeared and 700,000 occupational force doing all human right violations. Pakistan would stop sending freedom fighters there...
I suppose "strategic" is Pakistani speak for "money". I doubt Sharif spends 30 seconds talking about drones to Obama - he only has two hour meeting and I doubt he's going to waste it. Word has it Sharif is looking for $6 Billion infusion - what he doesn't know is that the $1.6 Billion he got was already approved by Congress and the chances of getting a Republic Congress to give Pakistan more money without something MAJOR in return is zip.
@All here, There is no point becoming hero when the nation is tax evader and does not want to work hard. On the other hand, America is responsible nation and no doubt they are economic giant. We still feel sympathy towards our killers (TTP) and then expect our rulers to behave like Asian tigers?
If only Pakistan can listen to world opinon on terrorism and ban their operation, there will be no drones. Today, you listened to China after they gave you an order to stop supporting terrorism on their soil. This is the third warning you have got from them.

@All: My fellow Pakistanis do not be concerned of how he looks like. Think more on the false sense of pride and morality he flaunts. Unfortunately, our rulers have no spine, no courage, to take concrete steps required by the brave to save their people from disgrace and mutilation. Nawaz Sharif can never even dare to antagonize any western lobby because that will mean that Pakistan comes under sanctions, which will effectively freeze the black accounts of all the corrupt rulers. How can NS let this happen? My people voted for a slave, and now he will make them go deeper into the pit of deficit and misery. Already, I am bleeding dry thinking of the labour-class resorting to organ-donation to pay for food... When will my people rise in a revolution to annihilate all the political, economic and military monarchies?

Even the carabean look Obama knows that Pakistan has entered into the strategic alliance with CHINA the country he visited first after being elected the Prime Ministedr of Pakistan. @Syed A. Mateen: It is because you can't bully with a Giant unless you yourself become a Giant. Leave aside Pakistan, except from Russia, no other country openly deject US. Even China with all its increasing military might and economic influence, doesn't openly contradict with US. US gave a trailer of its gutts in Abbotabad incident. And when we tried to show guts post Salala incident, we all know what happened then too. When you can't beat up a guy, the best way to handle such a situation is to argue and muster up support. Pakistan should move to UN rather than forcing the issue,
